Music Scholarships

The music department awards four-year scholarships based on students’ talents, academics, and musicianship. We encourage accomplished high school seniors who have been accepted to Transylvania to audition, regardless of your intended major. Scholarships are designed for any student who wishes to take applied music lessons in college and participate in a vocal or instrumental ensemble.

Awards

Awards range from $10,000 to $20,000 ($2,500 to $5,000 per year) and are automatically renewed so long as you complete four semesters of applied lessons and participate in an ensemble for eight semesters. Your audition will be considered in the assessment of your overall aid qualifications by the offices of admissions and financial aid.

Auditions

Performance applicants should prepare two short, contrasting selections of the student’s choosing interview with the music faculty. Theory and composition applicants should submit scores and/or recordings prior to their interviews. Taped auditions are acceptable under approved circumstances.

Campus tours

While you’re visiting campus for you audition, we encourage you to take part in a lunch with faculty and current students and tour campus with one of our student tour guides.
