Disability Services

Transylvania Disability Services coordinates services for students of any handicap in compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

The disability services coordinator reviews documentation for each student who discloses a disability and determines the appropriate adjustments and accommodations. Disability services works one-on-one with students, their families, faculty, and staff to ensure that students’ needs are met while maintaining academic integrity. Documentation about a student's disability is kept confidential unless the student requests that it be shared with others.

Most classrooms and faculty offices are wheelchair accessible. Alternative arrangements, if needed, are readily made on an individual basis through the Office of the Dean of Students. Accommodations for students with learning disabilities are also coordinated through the Office of the Dean of Students.

It is very important that requests for accommodations be made in advance of need. Please contact disability services before the start of fall term. For more information, contact Marian Baker, disability services coordinator, at (859) 233-8215 or MHBaker@transy.edu.
