For High School Guidance Counselors

Message from Brad Goan, Dean of Admissions

Brad GoanI am pleased that you are taking a few moments to visit the portion of our website designed specifically for high school guidance counselors. We know your lives are incredibly busy, and we've tried to collect here the pieces of information you may need most in your work with students and their families.

Sure, we want your students to consider Transylvania, and we hope some will choose to make Transylvania their college home. We think this is an outstanding place. But most important to us—as it is to you—is that your students find a community that is right for them, one that challenges them and provides opportunities for transformative growth.

Please use the information here. I also hope you will feel free to contact me or your admissions counselor at anytime. We look forward to working with you.

Visit Us

At Transylvania University, we believe visiting campus is the single most important step students can take in their college search process. We think visiting is also an important step for high school counselors and we welcome you to visit our campus at anytime. There are several ways for you to visit:

  • Individual Visit — To schedule an individual visit, please contact your admissions counselor. Your counselor will work with you to customize a visit that meets your needs. Your counselor can schedule a campus tour with a current student, an information session, the opportunity to sit in on a class, meetings with faculty and/or coaches, and lunch with alumni from your school who are current Transylvania students.
  • Counselor Visit Programs — Throughout the year, Transylvania will host events on our campus specifically for high school counselors. For more information, please contact Kim Chaffer Schroeder.
  • Group Visits with Students — Reservations for special group tours and information sessions must be made at least two weeks in advance. Schedule your group visits by contacting Lora Hornberger, campus visits coordinator.
  • Visits for Students — If you are working with a student who would like to schedule a visit, please direct the student to our online campus visit form.
